Her daughter, Ana, escapes the village ravaged by war and Russian Occupation, to pursue her dream of becoming Prima Ballerina for the Bucharest National Opera. At the height of her fame, during the Communist regime, her husband forces her to defect to safety and anonymity in North America. Stifling resentment, Ana lives a dutiful life until, as her daughter, Sorine, is about to marry, she finds herself compelled by the family curse stitched into the heirloom wedding dress to destroy her daughter’s happiness. Ana must exorcise the past’s legacy of hatred.
